Protect Your Carpets from Cats

We recently covered an article on protecting your floors from your pets, but we found that there is a lot more to discuss on the subject! As an animal lover, you want to allow your cats inside your house, and come and go as they please. But you don’t want to continually have to pick up after them and replace furniture and floors that they ruin just by being them.

Here are a few more things you can do to stop your furry friends from becoming your home’s furry enemies:

Rethink the Carpet in Common Areas

Many households allow their pets to visit any room in the house as they please, but every pet will have a room that they spend the most time in. For most pets, it’ll be where you are the majority of the time. For common areas like lounges and dining rooms, you may want to rethink having carpet.

Carpet has many benefits, but it also has a few drawbacks. It can be easily damaged by your pets’ claws, it attracts the dirt that your pet brings in, and it can also become home to pests like ticks and fleas. If you’re looking for an alternative that’s durable and easy to clean, consider getting vinyl or laminate flooring instead. Otherwise, if you are attached to the idea of having a carpet, get one that is stain-resistant and easy to clean.

Get A Scratch Post for Your Cat

Cats have the magic ability to turn a house into a home, but they can also turn a carpet into shambles. The best way to avoid this from happening is to get your cat a scratch post that they can ruin as much as they want to, while your rugs and carpets stay safe from harm. It’ll even protect your curtains and furniture!
